Dry van trucking out of Dallas, on 53 ft trailers

The workhorse of American freight. If your load is palletized, boxed or floor loaded and it needs to stay dry, this is the trailer it rides on.

What a dry van is actually good at

A 53 ft dry van holds around 26 standard pallets, up to roughly 45,000 lb of payload, and it protects the freight from weather and daylight the entire way. Most general freight in Texas moves this way for a reason.

  • Palletized freight. Consumer goods, packaged food, paper, plastics, retail replenishment and anything that stacks and straps.
  • Floor loaded freight. Hand stacked shipments where the pallets never made it onto the trailer. It takes longer to load, so we build the extra time into the schedule.
  • Full truckload, one shipper. Your freight is the only freight on the trailer, so it goes from your dock to the receiver without being cross docked in between.
  • Dock or drop trailer. Live load at your dock, or a trailer dropped so your crew can load it on their own clock.

Questions

Asked before most bookings

How many pallets fit on a 53 ft dry van?

Twenty six standard 48 by 40 pallets on the floor, or up to fifty two if the freight is stackable and the weight allows it. Send the pallet count and the weight and dispatch will tell you whether it fits before you book.

What is the weight limit on a dry van load?

Legal gross is 80,000 lb for the whole vehicle, which usually leaves somewhere between 42,000 and 45,000 lb of payload depending on the tractor and the fuel on board. If your load is heavy, tell us the exact weight and we will match the right equipment.

Can you drop a trailer at our warehouse?

Often yes, subject to trailer availability and how long it would sit. Drop and hook suits shippers who load across a shift rather than in one go.

Do you haul freight that is not on pallets?

Yes. Floor loaded freight is normal, it just takes longer at both ends, so we plan the appointment times around it rather than promising a schedule that ignores it.
